Product Diversity: Paper Tubes & Edge Protectors

Diversify DeAnna Kane

To diversify, or not to diversify. A company’s brand may hinge on many things, including products and diversity within those products. Ever go to a restaurant and see the menu and become so overwhelmed with the choices? Or walk into a Disney store and have no idea where to start to find that special gift for someone? Or perhaps just the opposite…where you have a requirement and most companies fall short in providing a product that fits that need?

Oftentimes people may settle for something that is less effective, and might not always be exactly what they need. The ability to customize products, particularly paper packaging products, is non-existent in many companies and leaves businesses searching day in and day out. Consumers yearn to avoid the misadventures in making bad choices that are a waste of time and money.

Ever Notice Concrete Form Tubes?

Paper Tubes create Light DeAnna Kane

I was shopping with a friend of mine one day and in the parking lot and I noticed that every 15 to 20 feet there were big light posts to illuminate the area. At the base of these light posts were huge, round, concrete formations that the lights were set into. Not many people would stop to think about the concrete formations, and simply walk by. Yet, something intriguing about the style caught my attention as I realized the concrete had a spiral swirl moving up from the bottom to the top and realized the concrete was laid into formation with a spiral paper tube. The pattern was repeated on all the light posts throughout the parking lot. Read more…

Local community support is  vital to the success of any business.  Fast food restaurants, boutiques, and stores that offer consumer products, all build around a community and thrive on participation from community members.  Many people may not realize that those local community retail shops also support and require a partnership with larger manufacturing companies that produce products that consumers ultimately purchase for their daily needs, as well as reduce long term costs of the business.

The History of Paper Packaging

Before the invention of paper products, nature supplied packaging needs with the use of elements such as gourds, shells, and leaves to wrap food and supplies.

Later, containers were fashioned from other natural elements such as hollowed out logs and woven grass.  China is credited with creating the first paper products over 2000 years ago in the first or second century B.C.  Subsequently, over the next 1500 years, paper and packaging products evolved significantly to move from using flax fibers and old linen rags to the wood pulp material fashioned around the late 1860s that is used in most products today.

Agricultural Bee Nesting Tubes

“Mommy, why are bees yellow and black?”

“I think that is a question you will have to ask God.”

Pause

“Okay, can we go call him now?”

I love that the hardworking honeybees are females and that they are usually the

only bees people see. The females gather food, create and protect the hive, clean, and

circulate the air by flapping their wings inside the hive. The Queen’s job is to simply lay

the eggs for the next generation of workers.
